Begin your journey at the Kids of Africa Village, where a warm welcome and visits to nearby schools and communities introduce you to life in Uganda. Then it’s time to hit the road and head north to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – where your first great wildlife encounter awaits.
Walk among Uganda’s rhinos
Experience the thrill of tracking rhinos on foot at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Accompanied by experienced guides, venture into the bush and see these impressive animals in their natural surroundings before continuing towards the vast wilderness of Murchison Falls National Park.
Where the wild takes over
Game drives across open savannah, wildlife gathering along the riverbanks and a boat journey on the legendary Nile – Murchison Falls is Uganda at its wildest. Spend two unforgettable days exploring the national park, keeping watch for elephants, giraffes, hippos and the many other species that thrive here.
From chimpanzees to the green hills
Trade the savannah for the forests of western Uganda and set out in search of chimpanzees in Kibale National Park. The journey then continues to Buhweju for a forest tour before returning to Kids of Africa via a vocational school visit. A farewell dinner marks the end of nine days packed with wildlife, landscapes and experiences to remember.

Day 1Welcome to Uganda
We meet you at Entebbe International Airport, just a short drive from the Kids of Africa Children’s Village. You stay in one of our two guest houses inside the village compound: simple, calm and right in the middle of everyday life. A guided tour introduces you to the village, and the day closes with a welcome dinner.

Day 2North to rhino country
The morning belongs to the village and its neighbourhood: visits to nearby schools and communities give you a first sense of everyday life in Uganda. Then we load the vehicle and head north. By late afternoon you reach Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only place in Uganda where rhinos roam free again.

Day 3Walking with rhinos
There is no fence and no vehicle between you and them. On foot, with experienced rangers leading the way, you follow the tracks until the rhinos appear in the bush ahead – a very different kind of encounter from a safari through a car window. Afterwards we continue west into Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest.

Day 4Where the wild takes over
An early game drive across the northern savannah, when the light is low and the animals are moving: elephants, giraffes, buffalo, antelope, and with some luck a lion resting in the grass. The heat of the day is for slowing down; the late afternoon for heading out again.

Day 5The Nile
Today the park shows its other face. A boat carries you up the Nile, past hippos, crocodiles and riverbanks crowded with birds, until the water ahead turns white. Here the entire river is forced through a gap just a few metres wide and thunders down – the falls that give the park its name. Those who want to can climb to the top and look straight down into it.

Day 6Into the forest
We leave the savannah behind and drive south into the rainforest of Kibale National Park. In the afternoon you set out with a guide in search of chimpanzees — listening for them long before you see them, following the calls through the trees until the group is above you.

Day 7From forest to hills
The road climbs into Buhweju, where the Kids of Africa Forest Farm sits at around 2,000 metres, high above wide green valleys. A guided tour of the farm shows a different kind of nature: around 100 acres of former eucalyptus plantation being turned back into forest with indigenous trees. Bring a jacket – the evenings up here are cool. At dusk the lights of the homesteads appear one by one in the valley below.

Day 8The journey home
We leave the hills and begin the long drive back east. On the way you visit the Kids of Africa vocational school, where young people train in practical trades and hospitality. Back at the village, a farewell dinner brings everyone together to look back on nine days of rhinos, elephants, chimpanzees and everything in between.

Time for a last breakfast with the people you have come to know, before we take you to Entebbe International Airport.
