From land to community
The village was built step by step. Family houses were constructed, foster mothers were trained, and daily routines slowly took shape.
Rather than creating an institution, the focus was on building a home – a place where children could grow up in family structures, surrounded by care, responsibility and continuity.
Education, work and everyday life
As the children grew, the village grew with them. Schools, workshops, sports facilities and farmland became part of daily life.
The Children’s Village evolved into a living place where learning, working and growing up happen side by side – shaped by long-term commitment rather than short-term solutions.
Opening to the Outside
From early on, Kids of Africa remained open to visitors. Friends, supporters and later travellers were welcomed to experience life at the village firsthand.
Two guest houses were established within the village compound, allowing guests to stay close to everyday life – without interfering with family structures or child protection principles.
This openness still defines the village today.
A living place, not a project
Today, the Kids of Africa Children’s Village is home to children and young people who grow up in family houses, attend school, learn professions and prepare for independent lives.
For guests, staying here means being part of a real, functioning place – not a showcase, but a community shaped by routine, responsibility and trust.
